Lost in Thought

I sit alone beneath the moonlit sky,
My mind drifts off to places far from here.
I watch the stars as time goes creeping by,
Their distant glow seems oddly bright and clear.

I wonder if they whisper soft to me,
A quiet voice that only I can hear.
They twinkle, laugh, and dance so endlessly,
Yet all their joy cannot remove my fear.

For life moves fast and leaves me far behind,
I'm stuck between a dream and what is real.
If only time would pause, if fate were kind,
Perhaps I’d know exactly what I feel.

But stars don’t wait, they flicker and they shine,
Reminding me the night is never mine.
